This above is a dumb thing I did for one of my classes... I was asked to create a design for something that would help people manage their time. What I came up with was a few different ideas. One is a small brain implant which must be surgically inserted into the pain center of your brain; it has a retractable USB wire which you can use in conjunction with a computer and a small piece of software that comes with the implant, to program your schedule into the implant. If you fall behind, it begins to discharge small electric shocks directly to the pain center, causing immense pain, yet being perfectly harmless. These shocks increase in amplitude and frequency as you fall further behind. I thought up a few other products on the same line of thought: a wristband or a collar which tightens, or a synthetic heart (replaces your natural heart) which beats quicker and quicker when you are late, causing intense, unnerving anxiety.
This is a bunch of sketches of this character in a game I love called Bioshock 2. He is a lumbering, speechless once-man in a diving suit, possessing magical powers and an arm drill attachment. He has undergone various wonderful biotechnical enhancements, including the removal of his vocal chords and his physiological dependence on the proximity and safety of the small girl, another invaluable marvel of bio-engineering, that he was paired with to defend. He is the first of a series of such sad creations, collectively called Big Daddies.
I wanted to draw a guy getting a whopper on the jaw here, but I had difficulty envisioning the body pose, so you'll just have to imagine the victim. I just drew this now because I thought this post was too short.Man, I wish I could draw him better. I can't draw technology. Details bore me. My friend told me, my lines are too smooth and simplistic. The character's got such a cool body shape, but I can't capture it. Maybe I should study it and master it. It would probably help a lot with my difficulties body-posing, because I always spend too much time on the face and not enough on the bodies when drawing characters. And this character is faceless.
And this is me revisiting my old character, the surgeon. This is the best out of the crop, the product of lots and lots of drawing and redrawing and trying to capture the essence of what I imagined. I have difficulty drawing noses. I didn't refer to my old drawings, I just tried to start afresh.Mr. Surgery is a man of eccentricity; applying medical aid, playing with organs, and hiding compromising evidence are just a few among the many uses he finds for surgery.
XD that's a very clever concept you came up with, to answer the everlasting century old question 'How can i help other people manage their time better." but i have to say its almost creepy at the same time kinda remains me of the book "Fahrenheit 451" i had to read back in high school and there was a chapter in the book that kinda remind me of what you wrote down. Well I'm glad summer breaks here now and we can all chill by the pool and not worry about homework or paper work :) i find it inspirational that you work so hard to perfect what you can and can not do, its good to know you can see your own flaws and take criticizeing well. If it makes you feel any better about your lack of capability of capturing details in objects such as technology...i can just tell you.. i cant draw at all :( but that doesn't mean i cant appreciate the good hard work of other artist. And Its only natural that you focus a lot of detail on the face, typically we always focus on looks and the face is the first thing we look at. Its the first thing we remember about some one or something, which even makes it worth more while when we realize the body structure is also important too. A person nose can really frame the face as much as eyebrows! i herd if you get a nose job 6 out 10 ppl might need to get their chin done too because your nose is whats ratio link to your chin i wonder if that applies to cartoons too?!..wow i would not think the day that i would read on your blog that the two words "magical powers" would pop up (o.O)just never saw you as a magic type of person..but hey what do i really know you about you right?! (what i know about you is what i read on your blog *which isnt much*)..hm bioshock 2 maybe i would look into this game and see whats all the hype about, you make the character's sound so fun and alive. Your going to Cali? so am i but not til July make sure you use plenty of SPF the sun near the coast are always the worst.
