It looks much better in black and white though.
Now these paintings were based on a couple of pictures I took while in America. They looked awesome. I couldn't capture the hellish colors in it. I think I might try this one again and get it right. It's not a problem of composition, it's colors and texture, what painting is all about. The worst failure here is the way I tried to brighten the right side of the tree. It turned out horrible, but you can't really notice it in B&W.I recently watched a movie called Miller's Crossing. I loved it. I love the Coen brothers. The Big Lebowski is also fantastic.
"Fuck it man. Let's go bowling."
-Walter Sobchak
I think that basically sums up The Big Lebowski. A carpet is peed on, a trophy wife goes missing, millions of dollars go missing, castration is threatened. But in the end it's like 'Whatever. Let's go bowling.'
And Miller's Crossing too. It's 20 years old, and it's set in the 1920s, in the style of Noir and hard-boiled fiction. It's pretty great. Anyway, this drawing is one of the characters after kicking some rival gangsters' asses. I actually drew this an hour ago because I wanted to update here. I have some other stuff too, but it's not worth uploading here. I'd like to borrow David Gemmil's catchphrase here and say Sorry Guys.
I think I enjoy the color painting the most.
ReplyDeleteIt's refreshing to look at
I always had trouble catching the colors in the sky, especially when it's a sunrise/sunset. I am way too critical to mess with paints lol But you did it very well :)
Hey thanks so much for commenting! It always cheers me up a lot when people do that.
ReplyDeleteI really like the first one! Seriously you've gotten a lot better in painting and drawing keep it up!
ReplyDeleteThe color painting's awesome, I don't know why you say it's a disaster!
ReplyDeleteKeep on painting, you're really talented:)
