Recently I got an iPhone, and I downloaded a really fun app my girlfriend suggested called Hipstacam. I don't like hipsters, but I do like vintage things so maybe, technically, you could call me a hipster, even though I usually like to wear a belt and a suit. Anyway, I've been in love with the app and I love taking pictures with it. It does things to photos you take with it to simulate the glorious imperfection of the old cameras. It also has a nice flash that looks funny and amateurish as you can see in the first photo below. It may be hard to believe but the following photos are not from the seventies.
The next two posters are posters I made for an upcoming school event. The dumb thing is that we wanted to make the dance have a theme based on "The Nightmare Before Christmas" but the school principal declined that because the word Christmas was in it and he didn't want to offend the people who are not Christians in our school. That's a really dumb executive decision. We ended up going with "Party at the North Pole", which is kind of boring and bland. But oh well. The second poster was inspired by the fact that the north pole is not located in Japan. It just isn't. But that could be easily remedied. All we have to do is move it right? These are pretty rough.
Oh, and a bunch of photos I took of the sky and the ground and the horizon lately. Also, this is the latest substantial piece of art I've created. I did it for Art class. I kind of like it, and I can see a few things I still should change about it but I'm getting bored of it and I want to work on my next thing. This is pastel by the way, not paint. I like Pastels but there are definitely some limitations. On the other hand I can handle pastels a lot better than paints. Acrylics keep me on edge with a frayed mind for some reason. It's the thought of the paint drying I think, or just the paint seems to be too valuable to play with, or I don't know what.
Well, that's about all worth showing.
Your drawing is unfinished.
ReplyDeleteImpregnate me Sean!
ReplyDeleteHey Sean Happy belated New Year to you~ The pictures are really lovely and your "Don't miss it for the world" poster really reminds me of the the Tex Avery cartoons i grew up watching during the late 90's... ahhh good times :)about "Hipster" i live in Austin Texas which is well known for South by southwest,Austin is also called Live Music Capital of the world home to Indie bands and underground music so we have a LOT of Hipster's here.i dint know the whole Hipster thing came to japan too..Guess nothings original any more and every one's a Hipster now lol well i hope you and your girlfriend have fun at the dance~ and when you said the thought of the paint drying or just the paint seems to be too valuable to play with i totally understand what you mean when it comes to painting sometimes it can seem so fragile and Acrylics unlike watercolor its hard to bland and once its dry... that's it. Not much you can really do plus Acrylics can crack if you layer in on too much and the the nice's Acrylic pant comes in such small bottles but i like the matte affects it has when its dry i only save acrylic for ethic painting, pastels are fun to play with bright color like red and yellow and lime green makes such nice tropical pictures violet and soft pinks and light greens are best for open meadows and smooth creamy black with dark violet and deep blue makes nice rain storms and you can even use a dry cosmetic sponge to smudge and blend out the color beside using your fingers sense our fingers has natural oils it can damage the pastel color and so it wont last very long and tends to fade. looking at your work really inspires me i hope you post more pictures soon.
